About The Dream Girls:

The Dream Girls

A novel

by Janice Hunter

The Dream Girls is Janice's first published novel. The Dream Girls tells an emotionally compelling story of five women in a dream study group, each facing a personal crisis that requires her to step beyond her comfort zone.

The Dream Girls coverThe universe works in mysterious ways. Five women of very different ages, from very different walks of life. Five women with nothing in common—nothing except the universal bond of womanhood and their mutual interest in dream analysis. An unlikely group for the universe to bring together. They'd first met at a conference on dream interpretation and discovered they lived within a few minutes' drive of each other. They decided to form a group and meet on a regular basis to continue their study and discussion of dreams. Little did they know how that one weekend would change their lives. Four years and countless pots of tea later, The Dream Girls—as they'd christened themselves—were the closest of friends. Proof the universe knew what it was doing!"

Physically and emotionally fatigued, Miranda must face the truth about her marriage. Jody realizes serious change is necessary when a dream suggests she wants to kill her husband and gag her kids. Kim's healthy lifestyle doesn't guarantee she'll remain whole. Theresa's career is her life, but is that enough? Natalie is perfectly content until her life takes an unexpected turn.

"As they unlock their dream's secrets, they grasp the key to their individual and collective futures."

During their times together, the girls explore the symbolism and veiled messages their dreams present. With their inner beliefs and emotions laid bare, each woman must step beyond her comfort zone. The trust these women place in one another by sharing their dreams creates a bond of friendship—one that will see them through joys and heartbreaks. As they unlock their dream's secrets, they grasp the key to their individual and collective futures.

Reader Feedback on The Dream Girls:

I love your book. I really enjoyed the characters; in particular, Natalie and Theresa. You have done a wonderful job of telling their stories and depicting the miracles, tragedies and everyday wonders we all share. Looking forward to your next book and will tell others about this one."

—Mary Lynn Arsenault

What a fantastic read! The Dream Girls is a very true to life read, with all the twists and turns that are thrown at people in real life. The cast of characters, with their different personalities and outlooks on life show us a variety of viewpoints in every situation. There are some surprises which the reader will not see coming—this in itself makes a good book. And as in real life, this novel shows us that with help from friends it is possible to deal with just about anything; and become a stronger, sometimes better person for having gone through the event. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I feel most readers will. Congratulations Janice, you have a winner!"

Dream Workshop:

Dreams: A Journey of Self-Discovery

Humorous or scary, fleeting or recurring, dreams are always a fascinating and effective tool for self-discovery. From the mundane dreams that seem insignificant to the sexual or death dreams that seem more dramatic, they all serve as guides for understanding and healing—in our relationships, careers, health and many other areas of everyday life. Applying the messages from dreams is a powerful force for personal growth and change.

Edgar Cayce said that dreams accomplish two things: They work to solve the problems of the dreamer's conscious, waking life. And they work to quicken in the dreamer new potentials, which are his [or hers] to claim.

With these two thoughts in mind, Jan will lead us on a weekend journey of self-discovery. Sharing her vast experience with dream work, combined with experiential exercises, group activities and guided reveries, Jan will offer a hands-on opportunity to tap this inner resource of wisdom and guidance.

She will show us how to:

  • remember our dreams
  • decode the veiled symbolism and establish our own dream dictionary – with meanings that are right for us as individuals
  • apply the guidance from the dreams for inspiration and problem solving to achieve self-understanding, happiness and success

Jan's enthusiasm for dreams is contagious and her teachings, while highly informative, are presented in a down-to-earth style appealing to the novice and advanced student alike.

Journaling Workshop:

Journaling: The Secret to Self-Awareness

Of all the tools available for personal growth and development, journal writing can be the most effective for getting in touch with your inner self and experiencing life more fully.

Journaling allows you to clarify your thoughts and feelings, thereby gaining valuable self-awareness. It is also an excellent problem-solving tool—it helps process them by fully exploring and releasing the emotions involved. Journaling is like your own private therapist—maybe better. It's easy. It's inexpensive. And it's available 24/7!

The benefits of journaling have been scientifically proven. Research shows that journaling:

  • improves mental functioning
  • strengthens the immune system.
  • counteracts many of the negative effects of stress
  • enhances self-knowledge and emotional healing

In this workshop, Jan will combine her enthusiasm and down-to-earth teaching style with her personal writing experience to lead you on a journey of self-discovery. You might even discover your inner author!

Life's Purpose Workshop:

Discover Your Life's Purpose

Every individual has a special purpose on this earth at this time. Your life's purpose represents the very essence of who you are. If you are not living your life's purpose, you are not truly living. It is your deepest intention, the heartbeat that guides your life. Living your life's purpose is the most important gift you will ever give or receive.

This workshop is a journey of self-discovery, with experiential exercises and group activities designed to uncover your hidden gifts. Jan will show you how to:

  • find clarity of purpose you never knew existed
  • hear and respond to opportunity when it knocks
  • feel purposeful and excited about life
  • be "in sync" with your SELF
  • discover your life's purpose and become the person you were meant to be!

Jan's enthusiasm is contagious and her teachings, while highly informative, are presented in a down-to-earth style appealing to the novice and advanced student alike.
